Card Features and Benefits:
When you don't have a credit history or you don't have a creditworthy credit score, you need to build credit.
One of the best ways to do that is by using what is known as a Secured Credit Card.
With a Secured credit card, you give the bank a security deposit and then you can borrow against it with the credit card.
On the surface, yes, you are loaning yourself money. But in reality, you are practicing good credit repayment habits with the bank watching. They also report your on-time payments to the credit bureaus, so that your credit score (FICO) will rise over time.
As they see that you can handle your credit and your credit score rises, you will soon be eligible for non-secured credit cards, such as travel rewards credit cards.
You will be able to use the Citi Secured card anywhere that Mastercard is accepted.
You will need to make a security deposit of at least $200 and your credit line will be equal to the amount of security deposit that you give.
There's no annual fee, but using this card internationally will incur a 3% foreign transaction fee. (View credit cards with no foreign transaction fee).
This credit card does not earn rewards or cash back.
