What are the main benefits you give up to save that $99 annual fee?

• You do not get automatic Platinum status. Instead you can earn bottom tier Silver status. You can earn Gold with $20,000 in spend plus one additional purchase, but at that point why not earn more with the Premier card?
• You do not get an anniversary free night certificate for up to 40,000 IHG points a night in value.
• You do not get a once-per-four-years fee credit of up to $100 for Global Entry / PreCheck

You do still get the 4th Night Free on an Award Stay benefit which is one of the best reasons to have either IHG credit card.

Note: You will only be approved for a Chase card if you have applied for fewer than 5 personal credit cards within the last 24 months from any issuer. (Business cards do not count against the total, except for Capital One and Discover, but are subject to the policy). Learn more about the 5/24 rule here.

Also: If you currently have an IHG Rewards Club Credit Card from Chase, or you earned a new cardmember bonus on that credit card within the last 24 months, you are not eligible to receive another of the same credit card. If you have one IHG card, you can get a different one inside of 24 months.
