How can you use Marriott Bonvoy Points?

There are two main ways to use Marriott Bonvoy points.

1) For Marriott hotel stays. This is probably obvious but what may not be obvious is that when you are using Bonvoy points to pay for a stay, the points rate includes taxes (though not those pesky resort fees) and your 5th night is free on an award reservation with 5 consecutive nights.  This means that if a room is 35,000 Bonvoy points per night, you can get 5 nights for 140,000 Bonvoy points. That 5th night is free.

2) For airline miles. Marriott Bonvoy points transfer to 41 airline partners, well more than any other credit card program. You can check this chart to see all of their partners. There are many airlines for which Bonvoy is the only transfer partner, such as American Airlines and Asiana. If you transfer to airline miles, note that it takes 3 Bonvoy points to equal 1 airline mile. If you transfer 60,000 points, you get a 5,000 airline mile bonus.

One other way that some people choose to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points are Marriott Moments. These are experiences for which Marriott cultivates special experiences and sells them to members for points. They can be well worth a look. I've redeemed in the past for Moments like box seats at the US Open.
