Best Credit Cards for Trip Protection
Trip Protections (trip delay, cancellation, lost or delayed baggage) can vary widely by credit card so be sure to click through to the issuer website and find the Trip Protections section for exact details.
In short, depending on the credit card, trip delay protection will kick in if a common carrier (bus, cruise trip, airplane, and train) delays you by more than 6 hours -12 hours or if you have to stay overnight. The trip has to be for a city away from your residence and less than 365 days in length. Trip delay insurance will help cover expenses while you wait. Expenses include food, transportation, overnight accommodation, toiletries, and medication.
Please note, trip delay insurance will not work if you oversleep or get stuck in traffic.
