This bonus is sponsored by Lifemiles directly so you won’t see it on your American Express Membership Rewards® account. Luckily, Limemiles does state that transferred Lifemiles as we ll as the bonus miles will be accrued no later than 24 hours after the Lifemiles Partner reports the request of miles transfer.

We just saw one of these in March – i.e. these are frequent and nothing to get too excited about unless you were about to transfer anyway.

With frequent website issues, terrible customer support, and change/cancel fees of up to $200 a ticket, it’s just not for me. Aeroplan also does not pass along surcharges (nor does United) and both are much easier to deal with.

At a mere 15%, I cannot see a case for the transfer unless you were literally about to make a Lifemiles booking anyway. This is the 3rd transfer bonus from Amex alone to Avianca Lifemiles.

I’m just going to come straight out and tell you not to do this unless you are an unbelievably experienced Avianca Lifemiles user and know exactly what you need more miles for. They also have transfer bonuses all the time, almost always more than 15%.

The transfer bonus is paltry at 15%, the Lifemiles program just did a major unannounced devaluation, and they are no longer the only option for avoiding surcharges on Star Alliance flights (hello Aeroplan).
