As of today, Citi ThankYou transfers to JAL Mileage Bank 1:1 on annual fee ThankYou cards and 1:0.7 on no-annual fee ThankYou cards.
And until October 24th, you will get a 30% bonus on your transfers from Citi ThankYou to JAL.
This bonus gives you 1.3 JAL miles per point transferred on a Citi Strata Elite℠, Citi Strata Premier℠, Citi Prestige®, and AT&T Access More. Other eligible ThankYou cards will get 0.91 miles per point (up from 0.7 normally).
The 1:1 transfer is nice, given that Capital One only transfers at 1:0.75 without a transfer bonus on.
Keep in mind that you can transfer 1:1 to JAL from both Bilt Rewards and from Rove Miles (if you are new and use this link, you’ll get 1,500 Rove Miles just for signing up).
We have a full guide to JAL Mileage Bank.
I absolutely love JAL Mileage Bank. I have written about how I used just 42,000 JAL miles and paid $285 in tax for an Air France Business Class flight on their newest product from CDG to JFK when Air France Flying Blue wanted over 90,000 miles + $600 in fees.
The guide will also point out that you can get great deals on one way flights but *killer* deals on round trip flights.
And of course, if you are skilled you can grab First Class or Business Class on JAL itself at 360 days out (you have to be quick, though!).
If you want even more, I wrote along piece today on MilesTalk about the Citi ThankYou –> JAL Mileage Bank launch.
