Capital One Venture Business – Won’t Report to Personal Credit

Here’s the excellent news that I confirmed earlier today with a Capital One spokesperson:

For new Venture Business customers, Capital One will not report to personal credit bureaus as long as an account remains in good standing.

Capital One has a long standing history of reporting some but not all business credit cards to personal credit. So much so that I made a dedicated post: Which Capital One Business Cards Report to Personal Credit.

While this card replaces the Spark Miles for Business card (no longer available, but existing accounts remain unchanged and will not convert to a Venture Business), the Spark Miles notably did report to your personal credit file and the Spark Cash cards all do as well. So the Capital One Venture Business joins the Venture X Business and Spark Cash Plus in not reporting to your personal credit file as long as your account remains in good standing.

Other highlights of the card are substantially similar to the now-replaced Spark Miles, but with some extra statement credits:

  • Earn unlimited 2X miles on every purchase, everywhere—no limits, no category restrictions, and miles never expire.
  • Up to $220 in credits: $50 annual travel credit through Capital One Business Travel, up to $50 statement credit on purchases at qualifying advertising or software merchants, plus up to $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck® every four years. Terms apply.
  • Earn 5X miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Business Travel.
  • Hertz 5 Star status.

Some clarifications on the statement credits….

The (up to) $50 Capital One Business Travel is annually on a cardmember year basis: Each annual Credit will expire on the next account open date anniversary.

The (up to) $50 statement credit on purchases at qualifying advertising or software merchants is not a pre-set list of vendors, but requires that the Merchant Code (MCC) match advertising or software. This is also on a cardmember year basis.

I am waiting to hear back on what payment network this card is running on and will update that here when I have a definitive answer.
