- Amazing Membership Rewards points earning rate for 6 popular business spending categories
- No Preset Spending Limit means your spending limit is flexible. Unlike a traditional card with a set limit, the amount you can spend adapts based on factors such as your purchase, payment, and credit history.
- Card membership includes the very well regarded American Express customer service
Pros
- You can't beat the 4X points on 2 out of the following 6 categories each month: U.S. advertising and media, U.S. gas stations, U.S. electronic goods retailers and software & cloud system providers, U.S. restaurants, U.S. wireless telephone service providers, and U.S. Transit
- Although the annual fee seems high, if you max out the 4X on $150,000 in purchases, that earns you 600,000 Membership Rewards points which Your Best Credit Cards values at around $10,000
- Card membership includes the very well regarded American Express customer service
Cons
- The high annual fee, despite being worth it for high spenders
- If you spend well over $150,000 a year in these categories, you may max it out and remaining spend earns at just 1X.
- Car rental CDW coverage is secondary to your own auto insurance
Instant Transfers as well as solid transfer partners. The value would go up if they had any hotel partners with a fair exchange rate. ANA (an exception to instant transfers), Virgin, Air Canada and Avianca are top airline partners for maximizing your points. They can also transfer to Delta if you wish and while the rates aren't ideal, they can transfer to Marriott and Hilton as well. ANA provides almost unbeatable value for booking a Round the World flight all in Business Class. The stated value also assumes you will take advantage of transfer partners rather than book via their booking portal, where they are only worth between 1 and 1.5 cents. We've also created a Guide to American Express Membership Rewards.

🎁 Bonus offer
Earn $350 in the form of 35,000 Ultimate Rewards points when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first three months and an additional $400 in the form of 40,000 Ultimate Rewards points when you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first six months after account opening. Points are transferrable if you also hold a Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, or Ink Business Preferred.
Bonus points for spend in the following bonus categories:
- Earns 5X on office supply stores, cable, internet, and phone
- Points earned can be transferred to other eligible Chase Ultimate Rewards cards
- No annual fee
Pros
- Great 5X (office supplies, cable, internet, phone) and 2X (gas stations and dining) bonus categories - on up to $25,000 in combined purchases each cardmember year.
- No annual fee
- Points earned can be combined to a Chase Ink Preferred®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card
Cons
- Charges a foreign transaction fee
- Rewards earned are only cash back unless you have a Chase Ink Preferred®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card to unlock points transfers
- Earns only 1% on non-bonus categories
The Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, and Ink Preferred all have the ability to transfer to airline and hotel partners. We use an average value that you can expect to get by utilizing your points for these transfer partners. If you do not have at least one of these cards, Ultimate Rewards are worth exactly 1 cent per point. Also keep in mind that when you redeem your points, you can elect to book travel through the Ultimate Rewards portal where the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Preferred have a point value of 1.25 cents per point and the Sapphire Reserve has points worth 1.5 cents each. You can move points freely between your Ultimate Rewards cards, i.e. from a Chase Freedom Unlimited to a Chase Sapphire Reserve. You can also read our Guide to Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

☝ Increased Offer
Earn 3 Free Nights (each night valued up to 50,000 points) after spending $3,000 on eligible purchases within 3 months of account opening. Certain hotels have resort fees. Plus, earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 total on eligible purchases within 6 months of account opening.
Bonus points for spend in the following bonus categories:
Earn 6X when you book Marriott Bonvoy properties direct. Earn 2X on all other hotel bookings.
- Earn a free night award every year worth up to 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy points
- Earn an outstanding 6X points per dollar for stays at Marriott Bonvoy hotels and resorts.
- Automatic Marriott Bonvoy Silver elite status, with a pathway to Gold status every year by spending $35,000+ on the card
Pros
- The annual free night award on the card is worth around $210 based on our estimations - more than double the $95 annual fee
- The card is especially rewarding on Marriott purchases, with the ability to earn an excellent 6X multiplier at Marriott Bonvoy properties
- Great travel card all around, thanks to travel protections and no foreign transaction fees
Cons
- $95 annual fee
- Silver elite status doesn't provide many perks on its own, so it's worth it to achieve Gold status or upgrade to a higher-tier Marriott Bonvoy credit card
- Only earns 2x Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar after reaching the $6,000 cap on combined purchases on grocery stores, gas stations and dining
While Marriott Bonvoy dropped all award charts in favor of a dynamic pricing system, it hasn't gotten out of hand and the 5th night free on awards can still provide outsized value. It's also hard to beat the breadth of Marriott Bonvoy properties all over the world.

35,000 Bonus Points after spending $3,000 within the first three months from account opening. Plus, you can earn up to 30,000 more Bonus Points by earning 2 Bonus Points total per $1 spent on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point for the first 6 months from account opening, on up to $15,000 spent.
Bonus points for spend in the following bonus categories:
At Hyatt family hotels booked directly with Hyatt only; Otherwise earn 1X
- Complimentary hotel night certificate on each cardmember anniversary.
- Automatic Hyatt Discoverist elite status just for holding the card.
- Earn additional qualifying night credits toward higher Hyatt elite status.
Pros
- Complimentary World of Hyatt Discoverist status, plus earn qualifying elite night credits toward higher elite status.
- One free Category 1-4 award night each cardmember anniversary plus earn an extra free night by spending $15,000 in a calendar year.
- Earn bonus points in a wide range of spending categories.
Cons
- Lacks any killer bonus categories aside from on Hyatt stays.
- It may be better to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards instead and then transfer points to World of Hyatt, while keeping some flexibility.
Hyatt award rates range from 3,500 to 45,000 points per night at their regular hotels and resorts. At all-inclusive resorts and Miraval, the prices can reach as high as 58,000 points per night, Almost without fail, during even remotely peak times, we can find roughly 2 cents per point in value. You can even book Suites for incrementally more points (Premium Suite costs twice as much as a room, for example). I tend to find these are one of the best ways to spend Chase Ultimate Rewards points which transfer 1:1. They are the only major hotel program in the US with fixed award charts making it a great program to be able to set goals for your redemptions..

They have a similar network to AA in terms of reach via the Star Alliance and also (unlike Delta) allow for booking First Class international awards in the Star Alliance network, but they charge noticeably more for Partner Awards and the rates keep (stealthily) rising. United partner Lufthansa tends to have good availability to Europe making it somewhat easier to use to Europe than American, which relies heavily on British Airways and BA charges incredibly steep surcharges on those awards.

Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
Get 25% bonus Virgin Points when you transfer Ultimate Rewards points between 12:00 AM ET on May 1, 2025 and 11:59 PM ET on June 15, 2025. Bonus points will be awarded by Virgin Atlantic Flying Club in your Flying Club account after your transfer is complete.
The first thing I’ll note is that there is currently a 30% transfer bonus from Citi ThankYou to Virgin Flying Club that ends May 17th.
Chase also had a limited two week only 30% transfer bonus to Virgin the first half of February.
Across all programs, there were 9 transfer bonuses to Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club in 2024.
Bonuses are often 30% or even 40%, so I would not jump on a 25% bonus unless you are both flush with Ultimate Rewards and have a flight ready to book.
Keep in mind there are now massive surcharges on international Delta flights booked via Virgin to/from the US, killing off one of Virgin’s very best sweet spots (50k to/from Europe). So really, run a search before you transfer!
Best Uses of Virgin Flying Club points:
Two great uses are domestically on Delta within the US or US-Mexico/Canada and for economy flights to/from Europe that are as few as 12,000 miles each way on partners such as KLM or Delta. Delta One awards not to/from the US should still be a deal. Delta One to/from Europe is still 50,000 points but now with surcharges of around $1,000, so that “sweet spot” is dead.
The other, well known, “best use” is to book ANA First and Business class awards:
- First Class to/from Japan from West Coast: 145,000 points Round Trip
- First Class to/from Japan from East Coast: 170,000 points Round Trip
- Business Class to/from Japan from West Coast: 105,000 points Round Trip
- Business Class to/from Japan from East Coast: 120,000 points Round Trip
Get 25% Bonus Flying Blue Miles when you transfer Ultimate Rewards® points between 12:00 AM ET on May 1, 2025 and 11:59 PM ET on May 31, 2025. Bonus Miles will be awarded by Flying Blue in your Flying Blue account after your transfer is complete.
The first thing to know is that Air France Flying Blue transfer bonuses are frequent.
Here is a list of historical transfer bonuses from Chase to Air France Flying Blue and here is a list of historical transfer bonuses to Air France Flying Blue from all programs
The last one from Chase was 20% at the start of this year and one from Chase last April for 25%.
Across all programs, we had 5 transfer bonuses to Flying Blue ranging from 20% – 25%.
Note that the minimum rates for some Flying Blue awards have recently increased:
Flying Blue rates are variable, so run a search before transferring. When you get lucky, business class from the US to Europe can run as low as 60,000 Flying Blue miles (up from 50,000 previously). But that would be just 48,000 credit card points during this promotion!
Flying Blue is often the best way to book Virgin Atlantic Upper Class from the US to Europe and beyond, due to the lowest taxes of any way to book Virgin Atlantic, however with Virgin’s new dynamic pricing you really have to compare the pricing on both programs as it can now be cheaper with Virgin in some cases. Flying Blue can also book Delta, KLM, and other SkyTeam members when Saver award space is available.

Cons
- Aeroplan points aren't as flexible as transferrable currencies such as Chase Ultimate Rewards
- $95 annual fee
- Hefty spend requirement to retain or upgrade your Aeroplan elite status level
Aeroplan does not pass along any fuel surcharges, making this a great program for Star Alliance flights. Two huge additional benefits are a stopover on your trip for just 5,000 miles and a lap infant (under 2) is just $25 CAD. One small negative is that they do have fees for cancelling an award ticket.
