Bonus Offer
150,000 Miles once you spend $30,000 in the first 3 months from account opening
Bonus points for spend in the following bonus categories:
Only applies to bookings made via the Capital One Portal; Earn 2X otherwise.
Only applies to bookings made via the Capital One Portal; Earn 2X otherwise.
Only applies to bookings made via the Capital One Portal; Earn 2X otherwise.
- With a $300 annual travel credit and 10,000 miles (worth $100) each year at renewal, the credits you receive are actually worth more than the annual fee.
- Free authorized user cards where the authorized user gets full airport lounge access of their own is unheard of.
- No Preset Spending Limit; Earns Capital One Miles
Pros
- The annual fee is more than covered by annual credits
- Comes with access to Capital One lounges, Priority Pass lounges, Plaza Premium lounges - all with generous guest policies
- Free authorized users also get the same airport lounge access benefits and Hertz status as the primary card holder
- No Preset Spending Limit
Cons
- The annual fee, while effectively negative $5 after credits, can feel like a lot.
- Aside from bonus points for booking through Capital One travel, there are no bonus categories. Still, all eligible purchases do earn 2X miles per dollar spent which is great.
- Points don't transfer to any domestic airlines, although you can use other partners to book domestic award tickets on domestic airlines.
It's worth noting that some Capital One cards earn 2 miles per dollar on everything, making the 1.6 cent per mile value an understatement as you'd be earning a 3.2% yield on every day spend. However, this assumes you will learn how to utilize the Capital One airline and hotel transfer partners, most of which transfer 1:1. The minimum value is 1 cent when used to book travel in their portal or to cover previously paid for travel, however, our calculator assumes you will use Capital One's air and hotel transfer partners when calculating a 1.6 cent per point value. We also have a Guide to Capital One Miles.

Must be booked via Amex Travel to earn 5X; otherwise earn 1X
- With an array of both luxury travel perks and small business benefits, this is the ultimate premium card for high-spenders.
- Generous protections when using the card to make purchases that provide genuine peace of mind.
- Amex Membership Rewards points are extremely valuable, especially for their ability to be transferred to hotel and airline partners.
Pros
- Robust 5x Membership Rewards on flights and prepaid hotels at Amex Travel
- Access to over 1,400 worldwide airport lounges as part of the American Express Global Lounge Collection including Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select membership, and more.
- More than $1,500 in statement credits that can help your small business and travel (Terms apply.)
Cons
- High annual fee of $695
- While there are variety of generous statement credits, they are mostly specific to certain merchants: Dell, Adobe, Indeed, etc.
- Airline fee credit does not cover airfare, only incidentals like checked baggage fees or other incidentals.
Instant Transfers as well as solid transfer partners. The value would go up if they had any hotel partners with a fair exchange rate. ANA (an exception to instant transfers), Virgin, Air Canada and Avianca are top airline partners for maximizing your points. They can also transfer to Delta if you wish and while the rates aren't ideal, they can transfer to Marriott and Hilton as well. ANA provides almost unbeatable value for booking a Round the World flight all in Business Class. The stated value also assumes you will take advantage of transfer partners rather than book via their booking portal, where they are only worth between 1 and 1.5 cents. We've also created a Guide to American Express Membership Rewards.

Bonus points for spend in the following bonus categories:
Applies to travel booked directly with Air Canada. Other airfare earns 1X miles per dollar.
Includes takeout and delivery
- Eltie status for the first year of card membership and the following full year - with the option to retain Aeroplan elite status or upgrade to the next tier by meeting qualifying spend requirements
- Earn 3x bonus points per $1 spent on purchases made through Air Canada directly, grocery stores, restaurants; and 1x point on all other purchases
- Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS application reimbursement every four years
Pros
- Automatic 25k Aeroplan elite status for benefits like 20 eUpgrade credits to premium cabins on Air Canada flights, two passes to Maple Leaf lounges and more
- Use Pay Yourself Back to redeem Aeroplan points for a statement credit towards any travel purchases at a favorable rate of 1.25 cents per point
- Important travel and purchase coverage, such as trip delay reimbursement, baggage delay insurance, cell phone insurance and more
Cons
- Aeroplan points aren't as flexible as transferrable currencies such as Chase Ultimate Rewards
- $95 annual fee
- Hefty spend requirement to retain or upgrade your Aeroplan elite status level
Aeroplan does not pass along any fuel surcharges, making this a great program for Star Alliance flights. Two huge additional benefits are a stopover on your trip for just 5,000 miles and a lap infant (under 2) is just $25 CAD. One small negative is that they do have fees for cancelling an award ticket.

- Amex Membership Rewards points are extremely flexible, with the option to redeem for travel directly through Amex Travel or transfer to a wide range of airline and hotel partners.

Cons
- High $695 annual fee (Rates and Fees) that will require a bit of work to fully maximize.
- Besides airfare and select hotels, it's not the best card to use for other purchases as it only earns 1X on categories outside of flights booked directly with the airlines (5X) or through the Amex Travel portal (5X on up to $500,000 of airfare purchases per calendar year) and 5X points for prepaid hotels booked with Amex Travel.
- Car rental insurance is only secondary, not primary as it is with premium cards from Chase and Capital One.

Cons
- The high annual fee, despite being worth it for high spenders

Only applies to bookings made in the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal. Otherwise, you'll earn the default rate (2% - 2.5%) for everyday spend on this card.
- Charge card allows for high spending limits to fit your business needs
- 2.5% Cash Back on purchases over $5,000 is a stellar rebate on spend
- Earns Cash Back rather than transferable points.
Pros
- There is no other charge card on the market that offers 2.5% on charges over $5,000 with no monthly or annual limit.
- A flexible spending limit makes it a great choice for heavy spenders; rare on a small business card.
- Primary car rental Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) can be a huge benefit when on the road. This means your personal insurance won't have to get involved for damage to your rental car. (Note that it does not provide liability insurance or coverage for any other car you may be in a collision with.)
Cons
- The Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned with the Ink Business Premier are pure cash back with no option to transfer the points to other Chase small business credit cards (Ink) or Chase Sapphire cards or to airline and hotel transfer partners. This differs from all other Chase Ink credit cards.
- Relatively high annual fee.
- Lack of travel benefits like a Global Entry application fee credit, though you likely have that on another credit card.
When a card earns cash back, it has a value in our calculator of $0.01, just as you'd expect! 😉

The Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, and Ink Preferred all have the ability to transfer to airline and hotel partners. We use an average value that you can expect to get by utilizing your points for these transfer partners. If you do not have at least one of these cards, Ultimate Rewards are worth exactly 1 cent per point. Also keep in mind that when you redeem your points, you can elect to book travel through the Ultimate Rewards portal where the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Preferred have a point value of 1.25 cents per point and the Sapphire Reserve has points worth 1.5 cents each. You can move points freely between your Ultimate Rewards cards, i.e. from a Chase Freedom Unlimited to a Chase Sapphire Reserve. You can also read our Guide to Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

- An annual Free Night Reward with no cap on value
Pros
- Diamond Elite Status
- Up to $889 in annual statement credits (Terms apply)
- An annual Free Night Reward with no cap on value
Cons
- Points earned are only good for booking Hilton family stays
- High annual fee (but not really, considering the value)
- We really can't think of a third!
Since Hilton moved to a variable pricing model, on average you'll be offered roughly a 0.5 cent value per point. What is nice is that although the pricing is mostly variable, they still cap the "standard" redemption rate on all properties. With the 5th night free on all award stays and resort fees waived on award stays, it's very possible to well exceed this value - even getting 1-2 cents per point - when used wisely.

- Frequent Delta flyer perks like first free checked bag, Main Cabin 1 boarding, priority upgrades, and access to complimentary upgrades even for non-Medallion members
- The annual companion certificate can be used for domestic round trip travel on Delta Air Lines in any class of service and can save you hundreds of dollars on a pair of tickets.
Pros
- Delta Sky Club access when you're flying the same-day with Delta
- Companion certificate that you'll receive every year upon card membership renewal, and it's even valid for First Class
- Ability to spend your way towards Delta Medallion status
Cons
- $550 annual fee
- Lounge access is limited to the primary cardholder, unless you're willing to pay a $50 per-person rate for up to two guests at Delta Sky Clubs
- Only the higher accelerator (1.5x miles) kicks in after you spend at least $150,000 on the card in a calendar year
Delta uses a fully dynamic pricing model on most awards, with the program aiming to offer you about 1.1 to 1.2 cents per point. However, you can still occasionally get much more value, especially during SkyMiles Flash Sales. Note that while you can book SkyTeam alliance flights with Delta SkyMiles, you cannot book international First Class on any SkyMiles partner.
