Most people would do better utilizing transfer bonuses to British Airways or Iberia which are also available for the same time frame, as the specific utility for Aer Lingus Avios is limited.
However, there ARE some sweet spots in the Aer Lingus program such as awards from the East Coast to Ireland for just 13,000 off peak in economy and 50,000 points in business.
Not East Coast? Off peak economy is just 16,250 Avios or 62,500 in Business.
On the same day as transfer bonuses to BA and Aer Lingus, keep in mind that all Avios can be moved between programs – including Qatar and Finnair.
Iberia’s chart is similar to BA’s however, note that I recommend only using for travel on Iberia. That is not only because fees will be lowest (you can fly from the East Coast of the US to Madrid in Business Class off peak for 34,000 Avios) but because award travel on partner airlines booked with Iberia Avios is non-refundable!!
Personally, I value a Chase point at well more than even 1.2 British Airways Avios, but if you have plenty of Chase points and a planned redemption it’s something to consider. Also consider, however, that Chase offered a 30% bonus in October of 2024 and Capital One offered a 20% bonus in November of 2024.
Beyond that, my usual thoughts apply:
Despite past shortfall domestic sweet spots evaporating, you can still transfer these miles over to Qatar Airways Avios where that same flight would be 9,500 miles (up from 6,000 but still cheaper than BA). And that’s the thing – you can transfer these Avios to any other Avios program airline including Finnair.
Also – outside of the US, BA still prices flights under 650 miles (i.e. SYD-MEL on Qantas) at 6,000 miles in Economy and only 12,500 miles in Business – hello, sweet spot!
BA does have a very favorable lap infant policy – 10% of the miles paid for the adult fare. Beware their draconian surcharges on long haul awards.

Get 50,000 Capital One miles when you spend $4,500 in your first 3 months
From now until March 31st, Etihad Guest is running their own transfer bonus.
Of all eligible partners, the only US participating bank is Capital One. You will get between 20% and 40% bonused depending on how much you transfer. You won’t find the promo on Capital One’s website.
Complete a points transfer between 03 March 2025 (00.00am UTC+4) and 31 March 2025 (23.59pm UTC+4) and receive up to 40% of bonus miles.
- Etihad Guest members who transfer 0 to 9,999 miles, will receive 20% Bonus miles on each transaction.
- Etihad Guest members who transfer above 10,000 to 49,999 miles, will receive 30% Bonus miles on each transaction.
- Etihad Guest members who transfer from 50,000 and above miles, will receive 40% Bonus miles on each transaction.
Now, should you transfer? My opinion is that only an expert user of Etihad Guest should even consider it. If booking on Etihad itself (which you might do for access to Etihad First Class space), you will pay between 25% and 75% to cancel a GuestSeat (saver) booking. That is the most punitive of any program I can think of. You can use it to book JetBlue (80k US-Europe in business) but you can also use Qatar for that without the punitive penalties.
You can book short haul partner awards like AA for as little as 6,000 miles, but I don’t think the juice is worth a speculative squeeze. Then again, AA to Europe for 65,000 Etihad isn’t bad with a 40% transfer bonus… You can always check pricing for Etihad Partners if considering it and you can view. the promotion page here.

Pros
- Earns 2X Capital One Miles on all purchases

Cons
- $95 annual fee after the first year
- Can only use the miles towards travel. There is no way to convert miles to cash
- No complimentary access to Capital One lounges, but can purchase passes at a special rate of $45
It's worth noting that some Capital One cards earn 2 miles per dollar on everything, making the 1.6 cent per mile value an understatement as you'd be earning a 3.2% yield on every day spend. However, this assumes you will learn how to utilize the Capital One airline and hotel transfer partners, most of which transfer 1:1. The minimum value is 1 cent when used to book travel in their portal or to cover previously paid for travel, however, our calculator assumes you will use Capital One's air and hotel transfer partners when calculating a 1.6 cent per point value. We also have a Guide to Capital One Miles.

They have a similar network to AA in terms of reach via the Star Alliance and also (unlike Delta) allow for booking First Class international awards in the Star Alliance network, but they charge noticeably more for Partner Awards and the rates keep (stealthily) rising. United partner Lufthansa tends to have good availability to Europe making it somewhat easier to use to Europe than American, which relies heavily on British Airways and BA charges incredibly steep surcharges on those awards.

- Free authorized user cards where the authorized user gets full airport lounge access of their own is unheard of.
- Capital One Miles are extremely flexible, with the option to redeem for travel at a value of one cent per point, or transfer to a wide range of excellent air and hotel partners.
Pros
- The annual fee is more than covered by annual credits
- Comes with access to Capital One lounges and Priority Pass lounges with generous guest policies
- Free authorized users also get the same airport lounge access benefits and Hertz status as the primary card holder
Cons
- The annual fee, while effectively negative $5 after credits, can feel like a lot.
- Aside from bonus points for booking through Capital One travel, there are no bonus categories. Still, all eligible purchases do earn 2X miles per dollar spent which is great.
- Points don't transfer to any domestic airlines, although you can use other partners to book domestic award tickets on domestic airlines.

When used on Wanna Get Away fares, 1.3 cents is the approximate value you get. On certain international routeswith high taxes, however, you may be able to yield close to 2 cents. Those are the exceptions to the rule, though, so I peg the value at 1.4 cents.

- No bonus categories earn more than 2X Hyatt points
- The Discoverist status is the lowest of the Hyatt elite tiers
Hyatt award rates range from 3,500 to 45,000 points per night at their regular hotels and resorts. At all-inclusive resorts and Miraval, the prices can reach as high as 58,000 points per night, Almost without fail, during even remotely peak times, we can find roughly 2 cents per point in value. You can even book Suites for incrementally more points (Premium Suite costs twice as much as a room, for example). I tend to find these are one of the best ways to spend Chase Ultimate Rewards points which transfer 1:1. They are the only major hotel program in the US with fixed award charts making it a great program to be able to set goals for your redemptions..

Our ratings are determined by the authors and editors on our team. Each individual card feature is compared against all other cards we offer and the total score is an average of those 4 ratings.
