    The Business Platinum Card® from American Express is a great Amex card for flights and prepaid hotels which earn 5x American Express Membership Rewards points, and for large expenses over $5,000 which earn 1.5x American Express Membership Rewards points.

    The Amex Business Platinum Card is Loaded with Benefits

    • Hilton Gold status (enrollment required)
    • Marriott Gold status (enrollment required)
    • Receive up to $100 as a statement credit every 4 years after you apply for Global Entry or every 4.5 years for TSA Pre✔®
    • Access to the American Express Global Lounge Collection which includes Centurion, Delta, Plaza Premium, and Priority Pass Lounge access (enrollment required). Note that for the Centurion Lounges, effective Feb 1, 2023, you will not be permitted any guests unless you have spent $75,000 in the preceding or current calendar year on the Platinum Card or pay $50 per person. Additional authorized users (an AU card costs $175) receive access. Delta lounges also require a per visit fee of $50 for each guest. Priority Pass and Plaza Premium lounges allow two guests.

    The Amex Business Platinum Card earns Membership Rewards Points

    Membership Rewards points earned on Amex cards can be transferred to 19 airlines and hotels. Amex is the only transferable credit card currency that can transfer to Japanese airline ANA, which offers great award rates on "Round The World" bookings in Business Class.     Amex Business Platinum Card Earn Rate and Review

    • 5X Membership Rewards points on flights and prepaid hotels booked via AmexTravel
    • 1.5X Membership Rewards points on any single purchase that is over $5,000
    • 1.5X Membership Rewards at U.S. Construction material and hardware suppliers, Electronic goods retailers and software & at cloud system providers, and with Shipping providers
    • 1X Membership Rewards points on other purchases

    (1.5X purchases are capped at $2,000,000 in spend per calendar year.)

    Also, when you redeem your points for travel through the American Express Travel portal, you will get 35% of your points rebated on one airline of your choice for economy tickets and on all airlines for Business Class and First Class tickets.

    This card has a lot of features and benefits that you need to make sure you both understand and register for, but once you do the annual fee can be well worthwhile.

    The card is best to utilize for its many benefits and on flights/prepaid hotels via AmexTravel while largely utilizing other credit cards for bonus category spend to maximize your earnings. An example is using the Amex Blue Business Plus for non-bonus category expenses since it earns 2X Membership Rewards points on everything on up to $50,000 a year. Points can be pooled between Amex accounts.
