Redeem for flights starting at 6,000 points. We like using points for domestic Delta flights (when there is availability!) as well as for SkyTeam flights and, of course, ANA First and Business Class flights. Virgin’s own flight rewards are dynamically priced but with high surcharges. I’d been seeing a lot of Upper Class seats from 29,000 points but I’m not seeing much now so do some homework on what you are hoping to book before transferring.
ANA First and Business class awards:
- First Class to/from Japan from West Coast: 145,000 points Round Trip
- First Class to/from Japan from East Coast: 170,000 points Round Trip
- Business Class to/from Japan from West Coast: 105,000 points Round Trip
- Business Class to/from Japan from East Coast: 120,000 points Round Trip
(Note that you can book one way for half the price of the points price listed. Also you must call to book these. Find availability on United’s site first. If you see it there, Virgin can usually, but not always, book the same for much less. Also, there have been reports that award availability between the US mainland and Japan isn’t bookable through Flying Club within 14 days of departure.)
Early birds get more points! Get 65% bonus Marriott Bonvoy® points when you transfer Ultimate Rewards points between 12:00 AM ET on May 1, 2026 and 11:59 PM ET on May 15, 2026. When the early bird offer ends, get 55% bonus Marriott Bonvoy points when you transfer Ultimate Rewards points between 12:00 AM ET on May 16, 2026 and 11:59 PM ET on June 30, 2026. Bonus points will be awarded by Marriott Bonvoy in your Marriott Bonvoy account up to 7 days after your transfer is complete.
Chase just ran a transfer bonus to Marriott Bonvoy, which ended on February 28, 2026, for 50%. This is unquestionably better, but it doesn’t change the math much on how I’d view this transfer bonus:
This is almost never a good transfer unless you are topping off for an award you are ready to book. Keep in mind that we value a Chase point at roughly 3X the value of a Marriott Bonvoy point.
However, there are always exceptions and you might find a 5 night stay (5th night free) where the transfer makes sense so do the math – but you likely do not want to transfer speculatively unless you are a Bonvoy pro and believe you will exceed value you can get via other transfer partners. Also keep in mind this transfer can take up to 48 hours.

Our review
If you are looking for a review of the JP Morgan Reserve card, you’re in the right spot.
However, it may be more elusive than you think….
What is the JP Morgan Reserve card?
Formerly known as the JP Morgan Palladium card, this unbelievably heavy metal credit card is now known as the JP Morgan Reserve card.
In the travel rewards credit card space, this is the equivalent of the famous American Express Black (Centurion) Card.
In nearly every way but the design and rarity, this card is the same as the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
One big difference?
The JP Morgan Reserve card includes an annual United Club membership.
So in some ways, the JP Morgan Reserve card combined the best features of the Chase Sapphire Reserve and the United Club Infinite Card.
The annual fee is the same as the Sapphire Reserve as well.
How Do You Get a JP Morgan Reserve Card?
This card is available to Chase Private Bank clients, only. That means you will need over 10 Million dollars in assets with Chase.
Now, you may know someone with one of these cards that doesn’t have $10 million with Chase. That would be because when it was the Palladium card, mere Chase Private Client customers could apply. But no longer…
JP Morgan Reserve Benefits:
- United Club annual membership
- Everything else found in the Chase Sapphire Reserve®
Can you Product Change from a Chase Sapphire Reserve to a J.P. Morgan Reserve?
No. sorry.
The Bottom Line on the JP Morgan Reserve
If you are reading this, the odds are that you can’t get a JP Morgan Reserve card. If you do have the $10 million in assets with Chase, just give your Private Banker a call!
Otherwise, you may need to look at applying for the Chase Sapphire Reserve instead… for now.
