    Dining and Supermarket Spend with the Amex Gold

    While the Amex Platinum card gets more "buzz," the standout metal Gold Card offers 4x Membership Rewards points on US restaurants and supermarkets (up to $25,000 a year), as well as 3x on flights. It also offers $10 in monthly dining credits and $100 in annual airline incidental credits.

    While many Amex bonus categories are US-only, this card now earns 4x on all restaurants, including internationally.

    Credits Get You Back Most of the Amex Gold's Annual Fee

    The $10 in monthly dining credits can be used at Grubhub, Seamless, The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and most Shake Shack locations. The $100 airline incidental credit is intended to be used for things like baggage fees and ticket change fees and applies to one chosen airline.

    For someone that spends a lot on dining and/or groceries, this is a powerful points earner.
