The Amex Gold is GREAT for dining and groceries

The standout metal Gold Card offers 4x Membership Rewards points on US restaurants and supermarkets (up to $25,000 a year), as well as 3x on flights. It also offers $10 in monthly dining credits and $100 in annual airline incidental credits.

While many Amex bonus categories are US-only, this card now earns 4x on all restaurants, including internationally.

Credits Get You Back Most of the Amex Gold's Annual Fee

The $10 in monthly dining credits can be used at Grubhub, Seamless, The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and most Shake Shack locations. The $100 airline incidental credit is intended to be used for things like baggage fees and ticket change fees and applies to one chosen airline.

For someone that spends a lot on dining and/or groceries, this is a powerful points earner.

A referral offer (from another cardmember) may offer additional Welcome Bonus points. At last check a referral offer yielded 40,000 bonus points.
