American Express Platinum Card Benefits and Review
While the fee isn't small, the Amex Platinum card gives you a lot back in the form of monthly statement credits for certain purchases and other benefits.
Card benefits include $200 in yearly Uber credits and Uber VIP status as well as $200 in annual incidental airline credits for your chosen airline, a $200 annual hotel credit, credits for digital entertainment, a Walmart+ credit, an Equinox credit, a CLEAR® membership, and access to the American Express Global Lounge Collection, which includes the Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass, and Delta SkyClubs when you are flying Delta. (Enrollment required)
Let's review the card benefits in more detail.
Statement Credit Offers
(All above offers require enrollment after you receive the card.)
Airport Lounge Access
Elite Hotel Status
In addition, you get elite status in two hotel programs (enrollment required):
While the Bonvoy Gold status is mostly good for small room upgrades and bonus points on stays, Hilton Gold confers free breakfast - a benefit that can really add up!
Other Platinum Card Benefits
Note that this personal version of the Amex Platinum card does not feature the $400 annual Dell credit that the American Express Business Platinum Card does, however only this version has the monthly Uber credits.
Both cards offer the annual $200 incidental airfare statement credits for your chosen airline.
We recommend that you weigh the annual fee against the benefits that you will personally use to help decide if it's worth it for your individual situation.
Amex Platinum Card Points Earn Rate
Earn 5x Membership Rewards points on airfare (booked directly with the airline or via AmexTravel.com and on prepaid hotels when booked via AmexTravel.com), up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year.
The card allows you to book the Fine Hotels and Resorts Collection which includes upgrades, late checkout, and free breakfast for cardmembers.
Other eligible purchases will earn 1 point per dollar.
