But we get it. Sometimes you just want to earn straight cash back and spend that cash back how you please.
If you aren’t going to play the points game at all, we generally recommend either sticking with a super easy 2% cash back card like the Citi Double Cash Card or Fidelity Rewards Visa for personal use or the Spark Cash from Capital One or American Express Blue Business Cash Card for businesses.
However, there are cash back cards that come with various bonus categories and if you are willing to carry more than one card, you can also do even better than 2% by mixing a few cards.
The Savor Rewards from Capital One offers 3% in dining and entertainment, as well as 2% in groceries and 1% everywhere else while the Blue Cash Everyday Card earns 3% cash back at US supermarkets for up to $6,000 in annual purchases and 2% cash back at US gas stations and certain US Department Stores.
